The role provides an
exciting opportunity to join the British Library's metadata teams at Boston
Spa. You will be creating, editing and manipulating metadata for print and
digital publications, and their creators and contributors. You will have opportunities to work across
different teams, with different workflows, as part of your ongoing development.
The resources received include Legal Deposit, purchased and donated material
for the British Library's rich collections,
The role can also involve quality assurance and supporting training across the
department. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to contribute
to the development of cataloguing policies and processes, and workflow
improvements at team and departmental level.
The posts require
commitment and focus when applying or checking relevant international
cataloguing standards in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Knowledge and experience of RDA, MARC21, DDC and FAST would be an advantage. In addition, experience of balancing quality
and quantity in a bibliographic environment; focusingon detail whilst
prioritising work to meet both personal and team targets is required in the
role. You will also have excellent IT skills, and be able to communicate
effectively, internally and externally, whether in person or in writing, with
colleagues at various levels from trainees to department heads and external
customers when discussing and representing your team.
