Description

Full Time, Fixed Term Contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Research Infrastructure Services team, focused on the development of the British Library’s Shared Repository Service for galleries, libraries, archives and museums (https://iro.bl.uk). Over the last four years, the Service has become firmly established with our pilot participating organisations and we are now seeking to expand it to new partners.

As Digital Services Specialist, your communication and relationship management skills will be extremely important, as you will work with stakeholders within the British Library and at our partner organisations. You will help British Library colleagues to make their research outputs openly accessible. You will also be the first point of contact for current partners with queries, and will lead the onboarding of new partners joining the service, helping them identify and prepare content for their repository. Additionally, you will work with our technical supplier to ensure the platform is up to date, testing upgrades and developments where necessary and liaising with other organisations in the open source Samvera community.

The role requires a good understanding of the scholarly landscape, which you will have acquired either through academic study, or through professional experience of working with research outputs (through e-resources databases, content management systems or repositories). You will work closely with the Repository Services Lead to help shape and deliver an innovative and important service to the cultural heritage sector.

This role is a fixed-term until June 2023 in the first instance, with the possibility to extend, depending on budgetary allowances.
