Full Time, Fixed Term – 6 months
An exciting opportunity for an
experienced cataloguer has arisen to join the Western Heritage Collections team
in St Pancras.
Reporting to the Lead Curator, Medieval Historical and Literary Manuscripts,
you will produce catalogue descriptions of pre-1600 western manuscripts, using
the Library’s cataloguing system. You will also enhance existing catalogue
records, to reflect recent research, checking details against other
international databases and publications, and adding bibliographies to the
records.
In addition, you will promote the Library’s collections by writing blogposts
aimed at a non-specialist audience, answering enquiries, and presenting
manuscripts to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience of cataloguing medieval
manuscripts, specialist knowledge of medieval palaeography, and a strong
reading knowledge of Latin. In addition, you will have experience of promoting
collections, excellent attention to detail, and strong organisational skills.
You will have the opportunity to work on major cataloguing projects in Western
Collections, and to improve online access to our collections.
