Permanent, Full Time/
The British Library is recruiting a Programme Manager to take on responsibility for the Library’s Save our Sounds Programme and Google Books Project. You will be responsible for leading and the day-to-day management of both strategic initiatives and ensuring their successful delivery.
The Save our Sounds programme is one the Library’s most significant programmes, transforming how we collect, care for, and engage people with, sound collections. The programme covers the acquisition and preservation of sound recordings, creating technical access to digital sound, rights clearance, skills development, learning, and engagement activities, and working closely with a well-established network of 10 partner organisations across the UK. The 5-year programme is due to complete in 2023.
The Google Books project works in partnership with Google to digitise at scale and make available to users, out of copyright collection item, with over 600,000 items digitised to date.
For this role, you will have significant programme or project management experience, with a proven ability to manage complex programmes with technology and business change components. Working across multiple business and technology departments and stakeholders, you will need to be an excellent communicator, ideally with an interest in the Library’s collections.
In return we offer a competitive salary and a number of excellent benefits. Our pension scheme is one of the most valuable benefits we offer, as our staff can become members of the Alpha Pension Scheme where the Library contributes a minimum 26.6%. Another significant benefit the Library provides is the provision of a flexible working hours scheme which could allow you to work your hours flexibly over the week and to take up to 5 days flexi leave in a 3 month period. This is on top of 25 days holiday from entry and public and privilege holidays.
