Description

POST TITLE – Building Fabric and Projects Manager

SALARY (RANGE OR MINIMUM) - £39,000-£47,941

FULL TIME/PART TIME STATUS – Full time

CONTRACT STATUS - Permanent

LOCATION – St Pancras

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within our Estates team, which has responsibility for developing, maintaining and managing the British Library’s estate across two sites: at Boston Spa, West Yorkshire, and at St Pancras, London.  Our ‘St Pancras Transformed’ Programme will build a new landmark extension of our Grade I listed building.  At Boston Spa, the Government has pledged investments to construct another high-tech storage building and undertake a major renovation of the main existing building on that site.

Working with our Senior Building and Projects Manager, the successful candidate will act as the subject matter expert on Library buildings with a focus on their structural integrity, fabric aesthetics and their general maintenance.

The successful candidate should hold one or more technical qualifications in a building related subject, preferably to HNC level.  They should possess considerable practical experience of the building process and building maintenance, likely gained through experience of site management or surveying, together with an extensive knowledge of high quality materials, components and finishes.  Excellent communication, project and financial management skills are essential for this role.

In return we offer a competitive salary and a number of excellent benefits.  Our pension scheme is one of the most valuable benefits we offer, as our staff can become members of the Alpha Pension Scheme where the Library contributes 20.9%. Another significant benefit the Library provides is the provision of a flexible working hours scheme which could allow you to work your hours flexibly over the week and to take up to 5 days flexi leave in a 3 month period. This is on top of 25 days holiday from entry and public and privilege holidays.
