The British Library leads and collaborates in growing the world’s knowledge base. We are engaged in a major partnership with the Qatar Foundation and the Qatar National Library to deliver an online resource (www.qdl.qa). This comprises of archives, printed material, maps, images and sound recordings relating to the history of the Gulf from the late 18th to the mid-19th century, and Arabic scientific manuscripts from the 10th to the 19th century. Detailed catalogue records are being created to facilitate access to the online resource.
We are a multi-disciplinary programme that includes conservation, content specialists, translation, imaging etc., with external funding committed until December 2021. The Partnership is currently in its third phase. The post-holder will be part of the conservation team, and expected to work collaboratively with the existing Partnership and colleagues in the Library.
As a member of the BL/QFP Imaging team you will be a highly-skilled and motivated Imaging professional with experience working with heritage material. You will be required to capture a variety of different material types, and conform to the BL/QFP’s exacting standards. You will be a strong team player, who is motivated by achieving personal and team targets.
